In an article sent to MobileMe customers, Apple has recommended that potential customers get in touch with Apple to receive a free DVD of Snow Leopard so that users can upgrade to Lion, and move to iCloud. [Macgasm]
You still need to buy Lion, but it’s a really nice offer. You can see how important iCloud is to Apple’s strategy, when they make an offer like this. This makes me think, that if Apple is moving to a yearly release for OS X, it will be dirt cheap to upgrade ($5 or $10), or maybe even free. They cannot expect to get people to pay $30 every year, even if people like me might do it, it’s still a small percentage.
