What the iMac was almost called.

Fast Company

Segall talking about what Steve thought the iMac should be named:

First, however, Steve gave us a challenge: We needed a name for this thing. C1 was on a fast track to production, and the name had to be decided quickly to accommodate the manufacturing and package design process. “We already have a name we like a lot, but I want you guys to see if you can beat it,” said Steve. “The name is ‘MacMan.’ ” (Ken Segall, author of the book Insanely Simple: The Obsession That Drives Apple’s Success)

Thank goodness Steve changed his mind. The Macman? Read the article, is very good, and for those who think that Steve was infallible and that Tim Cook can not do what he did, guess what, Jobs was human after all.

Also, Fast Company put the link to the book on Amazon, and is available on iBooks.
