Apple releases iOS 5.1.1

From TheLoopInsight:

Apple released the iOS update on Monday that addresses the following:

  • Improves reliability of using HDR option for photos taken using the Lock Screen shortcut
  • Addresses bugs that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks
  • Fixes bugs that affected AirPlay video playback in some circumstances
  • Improved reliability for syncing Safari bookmarks and Reading List
  • Fixes an issue where ‘Unable to purchase’ alert could be displayed after successful purchase

I haven’t seen it yet on my devices, but there you go.

Zynga’s Draw Something Slingshots Past Angry Birds in App Store

All Things D:

OMGPOP’s Draw Something is once again the top-selling iPhone application after being knocked off just two weeks ago by the launch of Angry Birds Space. In addition to climbing its way back to the top, Zynga also disclosed that the game has now been downloaded more than 50 million times in 50 days, making it the fastest-growing mobile game ever — or so it believes.

I must say, my friends and family (including myself), have been playing for a couple of weeks. It seems like a silly game, until you play it and keep playing it, and keep playing it.

Messages app for Mac adds new functionality.

Now, this could be just the Beta so let’s take it slow, but apparently you can send files of any type to iOS through Messages on the Mac.

If it is indeed a new functionality of the app (and I really hope it is) it will solve a glaring deficiency of iOS since the beginning. I could send pictures and music from my Blackberry to the Mac through Bluetooth, but I can’t from my iPhone. Let’s hope Apple leaves this in. [Source]

Fake iPhone 4S for Android.

Trick your friends with the Fake iPhone!

Trick your friends into thinking you have the new iPhone 4S! This app is a full-screen working replica of the iPhone 4 home screen. It even replaces your phone’s status bar, so there’s no hint of Android underneath.

It would be easier to just buy an iPhone, but if you want the look and feel of iOS, with the customization and “openness” of Android, here you go. [Android Market link]
