Android apps targeted by malware.

Known instances of Android-related malware — “virtually all” involving apps — have jumped steadily month by month from 400 in June to 15,507 in February, according to Sunnyvale security firm Juniper Networks. So far, hundreds of thousands of phones and other devices have been infected. And although Google says it is working to block the malevolent downloads, experts fear what may be coming.

Android May Be Losing Ground in the App War

Business Wire reports on a slowdown of App development on Android.

The reasons for the smaller interest in Android involve time and money. Apple apps can be quicker to develop and it’s easier to generate revenue from them, thanks in part to Apple’s iTunes system.

Purchasing apps on Android is not always easy, and as bad as iTunes is for new App discovery, Android Market is even worst. Then there is the fact that apparently, a big chunk of the people buying Android equipments, don’t know or don’t care for apps. Time will tell if this is temporary, or a sign of a deeper problem in Droid Land.

Google a verificar seguridad en el Android Market.

Por fin Google toma un paso proactivo en la seguridad del Android Market:

If it’s a repackaging of known malware, we’ll flag it,” says Android vice president of engineering Hiroshi Lockheimer. “We also run apps on the server side in a simulated device environment, to monitor what it’s doing. If we see anything fishy, it gets flagged for manual review.
