What’s New in Version 26.0.1410.50

Fullscreen for iPhone and iPod touch
• Scroll the toolbar off the screen to enjoy the full page of content.
• Quickly re-access the omnibox by scrolling back down.

More stuff I would like Apple to do with Safari on iOS.

Google to Fork Webkit

Google:

Chromium uses a different multi-process architecture than other WebKit-based browsers, and supporting multiple architectures over the years has led to increasing complexity for both the WebKit and Chromium projects. This has slowed down the collective pace of innovation – so today, we are introducing Blink, a new open source rendering engine based on WebKit.

You know what Google? Fork You.

Chrome for iOS updated.

What’s New in Version 25.0.1364.86

• Long press on the back button to quickly access any page in your tab history
• Share a web page via Messages

The sharing via messages is a very cool addition, I would still like to see a Reader-like ability and for Apple to allow me to change default apps.

TNW

Google uses an Android phone and tablet, and a brand-new Samsung Chromebook to illustrate the page.

It’s no secret that most Google employees are Mac users, but come on, a little attention to detail wouldn’t hurt.

Exploit lets websites bombard visitors’ PCs with gigabytes of data

Ars Technica:

As its name suggests, FillDisk.com loads an almost unlimited amount of data onto hard drives of people who access the site. It requires no user interaction and works with the Google Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Apple Safari browsers. It adds 1GB of data every 16 seconds on a MacBook Pro Retina equipped with a solid state drive, according to Feross Aboukhadijeh, the Web developer and computer science grad student who created the proof-of-concept site.

Firefox is the only browser unaffected.

$1,299 Wifi only, $1,449 LTE plus Wifi. To run Chrome. This is stupid.

Get Reader-like functionality on Chrome for iOS

MacStories:

2013-02-06_213046-chromeinsta

Simply head over this page and install the Text bookmarklet; running the bookmarklet on a webpage will display it using Instapaper’s parser, but it won’t add it to your Instapaper account.

They don’t say it on this article, but you have to do it on the desktop version of Chrome, because unless I’m missing something, I could not do it on the mobile version. I named my bookmark aa, when I run into a page where the font is too small, I just type aa on the URL bar, select the bookmark, and boom! I have an Instapaper version of the article where I can make the font bigger, change font, background color, etc. It’s a hack, and it’s not as elegant or easy as Safari’s solution, but it works.

Google Chrome 25 will disable silent extension installation

TNW:

chrome-logo-chrome

As of Chrome 25, external extension deployment options on Windows will be disabled by default and all extensions previously installed using them will be automatically disabled.

This is a nice feature, but why did it allow silent installation  in the first place?
