Google not open to Ad Blockers

According to a story at Android Police, a number of developers of Android apps which have the capability to block ads in web browsers have received notifications from Google that their apps have been kicked out of the Google Play store and are no longer available for download.

They are OPEN, to anything that doesn’t block ads.

Google admits its VP8/WebM codec infringes MPEG H.264 patents

Almost three years after Google released its WebM video encoding technology as a “free” and open alternative to the existing H.264 backed by Apple and others, it has admitted its position was wrong and that it would pay to license the patents WebM infringes.

Galaxy S III bug bypasses lockscreen, allowing access to all personal data

The lockscreen on your phone may not be doing a good job of keeping intruders out. A new bug has been found on the Galaxy S III that can let users bypass the lockscreen and access all phone functions, and we’ve just confirmed its efficacy on a Sprint version of the device running Android 4.1.1.

I’m sure there will be a quick update…yeah right.

Apple Up, Android down

ComScore’s January numbers are out today and they have Google (and everyone else) losing ground to Apple. Android dropped to 52.3% from 53.6 percent of US Smartphone subscribers while Apple climbed 3.5 points to 37.8%. Both OS’s are now over 90% of the base.

The sharing via messages is a very cool addition, I would still like to see a Reader-like ability and for Apple to allow me to change default apps.
