The numbers seem to back this up, as sales of Windows 8 are off 13% compared to 2011 Windows 7 sales, according to research firm NPD.
In the post PC era, it doesn’t matter what platform you use, it’s all Internet. Android, iOS, etc. Windows is not requisite anymore.
SlashGear:
Merle McIntosh, Senior Vice President of Product Management of Newegg North America, says that the retailer was “prepared for some pretty big upside on the software side of the equation, and the hardware side of the equation, and it is has been steadily improving.” However, McIntosh noted that sales of the new OS “did not explode…coming out of the gate.”
Merle McIntosh, oh the irony.
Apple:
Apple® today announced it has sold three million iPads in just three days since the launch of its new iPad® mini and fourth generation iPad—double the previous first weekend milestone of 1.5 million Wi-Fi only models sold for the third generation iPad in March. The Wi-Fi + Cellular versions of both iPad mini and fourth generation iPad will ship in a few weeks in the US and in many more countries later this year.
AppleInsider:
With 6.1 million total smartphones activated in the quarter, Apple’s iPhone accounted for more than 77 percent of AT&T’s smartphones. Though Apple remained dominant, AT&T noted that sales for Android and Windows smartphones also reached record levels.

Appleinsider:
Assuming Apple’s 7.85-inch iPad goes on sale Friday, Nov. 2, analyst Gene Munster with Piper Jaffray sees the company selling at least 5 million units in the December quarter. That would be enough to cannibalize a million regular iPad units during the holiday shopping season, he believes.
First, it’s Gene Munster, the guy who has been predicting an actual Apple TV set for the last…forever, so let’s take a BIG grain of salt.
Second, if anyone is going to cannibalize the iPad, the best thing that can happen is for it to be another iPad. You sell one less regular iPad, but you sell five more smaller iPads, with five new iCloud, iTunes, etc., accounts. Where is the negative side to this?
Every five ‘iPad mini’ sales projected to cannibalize one full-size iPad
Apple:
Apple today announced it has sold over five million of its new iPhone® 5, just three days after its launch on September 21, and more than 100 million iOS devices have been updated with iOS 6, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system.
9 to 5 Mac:
In what shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, it looks like T-Mobile won’t be carrying Apple’s next-generation iPhone. In a memo to employees, leaked by TmoNews, T-Mobile is encouraging its retail staff to begin “selling against the iPhone” on September 21st. Of course, September 21st is the rumored launch date for the latest handset out of Cupertino. T-Mobile is probably just making an assumption, rather than having inside knowledge — but you never know.
Good luck.
