Although the series takes place during a time when federal, state, and local governments have basically failed, it’s important to remember that, assuming some kind of government is eventually reconstituted, the survivors may still have to answer for their actions during the zombie apocalypse.

Because someone has to think of these things. Just in case.

The Nielsen Family Is Dead

Wired:

Hulu, Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Roku, iTunes, smartphone, tablet—none of these platforms or devices are reflected in the Nielsen rating. (In February Nielsen announced that this fall it would finally begin including Internet streaming to TV sets in its ratings.)

The TV ratings system is a relic, there are some of us who watch shows on the Web, or DVR, and those are not properly measured. I don’t have AMC, but I watch Mad Men on Netflix, and bought the latest season passes for Braking Bad and The Walking Dead in iTunes, and watch them as soon as they are available. So I am part of the audience of those shows, but not of the ratings.

With iPad, Judge Judy warms to tech at last

USA Today:

“The iPad is a user-friendly device for people of my generation who were intimidated by the computer. I know how to press Safari and Google and find out the ages of all my friends, and all the celebrities I want some juice on. I know how to send an e-mail, and I can receive an e-mail.”

Science on crack, 2: Walter White & cooking crystal meth

Puff the Mutant Dragon:

How many TV shows can you name that star a chemist as hero and feature references to reductive amination and x-ray crystallography? I can think of only one.

Breaking Bad is by far and away my favorite show on TV. It’s got a truly addictive combination: intriguing premise, great scriptwriting, great directing and strong acting talent. And honestly, I’m hooked.

Breaking Bad is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Once you start watching, you’ll want to see every episode there is as soon as possible, just to see what happens next.

Half of the TV audience mistook Samsung Galaxy Tab for iPad in ads

AI:

Only 16 percent of viewers observing Samsung’s TV commercials realized it was a Samsung product, according to an internal report the company commissioned, and which has been submitted as evidence in its trial with Apple.

“Given Apple’s already strong position in the tablet category,” Samsung’s report stated, “it is critical that attribution of [Galaxy] Tab communications improve and that communication works to differentiate Tab from iPad.”

The report also highlighted that “only 11 percent of customers are aware of and can link the Galaxy Tab back to Samsung, while 65% of consumers are aware and can like the iPad back to Apple.”

Well, if you’re trying to copy something, you don’t want people to know it’s not the original.

Apple pulls plug on polarizing “Genius” TV ads

GigaOm:

A rep for TBWA/Media/Arts Lab, Apple’s ad agency, says the ads are not running anymore, but that was the plan all along. The ads were intended only for a “first run” during the Olympics, which meant just the first weekend of the Games, the rep says.

Or, so they say.

Apple TV, Google TV, y ahora… Ubuntu TV

It’s a simple viewing experience for online video, both your own and routed over the internet,” Jane Silber, Canonical’s CEO told PC Pro
