More stuff I would like Apple to do with Safari on iOS.

iPad, three years later

I was there three years ago, Saturday April 3rd, 2010, in a line at a local Best Buy with my brother. The damn thing is all banged up, with a little crack on the screen, still working. Surviving what my son does to it.

Chrome for iOS updated.

What’s New in Version 25.0.1364.86

• Long press on the back button to quickly access any page in your tab history
• Share a web page via Messages

The sharing via messages is a very cool addition, I would still like to see a Reader-like ability and for Apple to allow me to change default apps.

Sun: A beautiful weather web app for iPhone and iPad.

Screen Shot 2013-02-26 at 10.11.29 AM

Mactories posted an article about Sun, a beautiful and simple weather web app for iPhone and iPad. Its free, and all you have to do is go to the page using Safari on your iPhone or iPad and add it to your home screen. Once installed, it will of course ask to know your location and that place will be the default. You can add three more cities, choose from Fahrenheit or Celsius, miles per hour, kilometres per hour, or meters per second, as well as color palette. If you swipe to the side, it will change cities, if you pinch the screen you can see info for all four cities at once. If you tap on a location, it will show a chart with projected temperatures and a ten-day forecast. Also, the icon will tell you the temperature of your current location. Really cool web app created by Jakob Henner.

A robot to clean your iPhone or iPad.

The Next Web:

Ladies and gentlemen, the future has arrived: Introducing the Automee S, a strangely cute, little device that cleans your iPad and iPhone’s screen like a miniature Roomba would.

How lazy can you get?

Get Reader-like functionality on Chrome for iOS

Simply head over this page and install the Text bookmarklet; running the bookmarklet on a webpage will display it using Instapaper’s parser, but it won’t add it to your Instapaper account.

They don’t say it on this article, but you have to do it on the desktop version of Chrome, because unless I’m missing something, I could not do it on the mobile version. I named my bookmark aa, when I run into a page where the font is too small, I just type aa on the URL bar, select the bookmark, and boom! I have an Instapaper version of the article where I can make the font bigger, change font, background color, etc. It’s a hack, and it’s not as elegant or easy as Safari’s solution, but it works.

Apple: Unauthorized modification of iOS can cause instability, security vulnerabilities, shortened battery life, and other issues

Apple:

As designed by Apple, iOS and iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch are designed to work together reliably. Unauthorized modifications to iOS (“jailbreaking”) can cause numerous issues to the hacked iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

If you experience a Jailbreaking process that lasts more than four hours, get medical assistance immediately. Wait, that’s for something else…
